Plasma Hemoglobin- Hemoglobin found in
plasma due to a rupture of red blood cells. Hemoglobin is
a blood protein normally found inside the red blood cell
and is used for the transport of oxygen throughout the
body.
Homologous
Blood Product- Blood product obtained from a donor other
than the patient. The blood is anticoagulated, preserved
and refrigerated in units of approximately 500mls for
future use. The blood is stored for approximately 21
days.
Platelets- small
disk or platelike structures which function in the
clotting of blood by aggregating together and sealing
small breaks in blood vessel walls.
